So, I have started a new series where every week, on Sunday, I upload a video. In these videos, I will be reviewing a game that is free in the Xbox store. This week, I tested a game called ‘War Thunder’ In this game, you control tanks/planes/boats and fight each other. There are different objectives with different game modes but ultimately, you want to kill the enemy and win.
When I loaded this game up, I was presented with an option to choose which vehicle I would use for the first game, I picked a tank. I could then see a screen with many different options on it. This was a little confusing at first, so I decided to just press ‘To battle’. After waiting what felt like an hour for it to load, I was finally in the game. I was a little confused, so I didn’t manage to kill (or see) anybody.
Whilst playing the game, I realised that the graphics are not great. In addition to this, the game is all round slow and glitchy. I know this is a free game so I’m not complaining but I am just a little bit disappointed. Other than these negative points, the tank and boat areas are great. It is a little hard to control them at first, but I quickly got the hang of it.
I was quite pleased with the game until I got to the plane area. I really wanted to fly a plane, but it forced you to do the tutorial before playing. At first, I didn’t mind about this because I thought it was going to teach me. Instead, I could get my plane up to speed and then my game froze, and a popup came. I thought this was normal as this happened at the start to say how to control the plane. The popup was telling me to use my right joystick to lift off. I did this and nothing happened, this was a little disappointing because this kept on happening. This meant that I couldn’t use the plane because I couldn’t complete the tutorial that was required.
Overall, I am rating this a 3/5 stars. If the plane worked and there were less glitches, I would have rated this higher. This game is good if you are looking for a free game where you can use tanks and boats.
