For this week’s game review, I reviewed Hawken. This is a game where many different mechs fight out in different game modes. There are solo modes as well as multiplayer modes.

After loading this game, I was shown a cut scene showing the background of the game. This then lead on to the game where I was confused so I just pressed to do the tutorial mode (which it recommended). This showed a brief tutorial of how to move and fire your weapons. There are special boosters to make the game more fun and interesting. I also noticed that you could heal mid match which lead on to some great strategies. I only played team modes because I was new and quite bad.
Although this game was fun, there were a few annoying bugs. The first bad thing that I noticed was that after every game, I had to wait on a menu saying syncing data. This was very annoying because ii wanted to play and not watch this screen. Another annoying thing that I noticed was that when I went to the store, the game just crashed and exited me. This was annoying because it meant my only way of getting a better mech was paying real money. This was annoying because there were many other mechs that were so much better than mine, but I couldn’t upgrade to be able to fight them. This meant that I sometimes used my teammates as body shields.
Overall, I would rate this game 2.5 stars out of 5. This is because the idea of the game is good, but the bugs make it a lot less enjoyable. You can put up with the syncing data, but the shop bug ruined the fun of a few matches where everyone had great mechs and I only had the starter 2 mechs.
