For this week’s game review, I reviewed a game called The Long Dark. This is an adventure fame where players can choose to follow a storyline and explore the snowy areas.

When I first loaded this game, I could decide to play the story mode or free mode. The adventure mode would follow a story where the player can decide what they do but there is a path that they ultimately follow. On free mode, players can explore the world without a story. I chose to do story mode. This option is really cool because some players enjoy a story, but others wouldn’t.

Whilst I was playing this game, I saw that the graphics were very good. The fire and snow looked very realised and high quality. This could however be decreased in settings if your game lags. This is really cool because it has great graphics, but it also accommodates for people whose game can’t run the best graphics.

When I selected the story mode, I was given the option to change my characters appearance, voice, and gender. This was really cool because it meant that every player will be different and unique.

Whilst I was playing, I realised that there is a story, but you can also do what you like. There isn’t a barrier that says you must follow the story and you can’t go here until later. This is really cool because it meant that people could get more of a feel for the game without being forced to go a certain way or find a certain animal.

This game requires a player to survive in the freezing wilderness. The game is very realistic and has hunger, dehydration and heat. This is really cool because it means that you can’t just walk through anything. In addition, when you get attacked, you could cut your arm or leg. You would then have to apply different amounts and types of medical attention depending on the wound. Along with this, standing on fire would also burn your feet. This is really cool because that would happen in real life.

Before we go traveling, the game allows me (the player) to decide what items I want to bring with me on the flight. I can only take 3 items, so I have to be careful of what I decide to take. This can also make everyone’s experience different because they might take different items.

Unfortunately, this game didn’t have a tutorial. This was a bit annoying as the player had to guess controls until they had worked it out.

Overall, I would rate this game 4/5 stars.
