For this week’s Game review, I received a game called Human Fall Flat. This is a 3rd person puzzle game where a player completes levels to progress to the end of each stage.
When I first loaded this game, I could change my characters appearance. I realised that you could buy more cosmetics for your avatar by completing levels and getting in game money. This was cool because it meant that players could customise their own characters whilst also showing each other how experienced they are. This also made some cosmetic items seem like a reward to players. In addition. I could select solo or multiplayer. There was also a split screen mode for people who want to play with someone on the same Xbox. I chose to play solo mode.
When I loaded the solo mode, the game showed me a tutorial that I could exit and replay at any point in time. It also showed me that if I fail a level multiple times, the game will give me an optional clue/tutorial/help to get me through the level. This was really cool because it meant that if I was to get stuck, I would spend some time on the level, but I would still be able to progress and continue because I could use the help. In addition, this meant that players wouldn’t take 2 seconds to complete a level, but they also wouldn’t be still stuck after an hour of trying the same thing.
Around the map, there are arrows and guides to help the player through. This is very good because without them, the player could get very confused and lost of where they are. The arrows are a small but very helpful feature that means the player wouldn’t go back a level by accident.
Each level had multiple ways to complete it. This means that if you are on solo, you could play different to multiplayer. In addition, the player could find many unique and challenging ways to complete each level. This also meant that a player could redo the map and still have fun with a challenge of a harder level.
The graphics are funny and fit the game very well. This means that they are not the best graphics, but they add comedy to the game without making it look bad. There is a balance between the game looking cartoony/funny and it is looking very good.
The physics in this game are very different to real life. At times you can climb a wall but at other times, you cannot climb it and you are stuck on the ground. The broken graphics are comedy to the already funny game which just makes it more entertaining to play.
Overall, I would rate this game 4/5 stars.
