Hello everyone, welcome to another video, today we are taking a look at ‘Super Mario Bros 3’ and recreating the marketing graphic for the video game. This will mark the beginning of a series that I will be creating on the channel, this would involve looking at various retro games and improving the marketing graphics for each of the retro games that I play through.
So, today I played the original ‘Super Mario Bros 3’ for the first time, after being told the controls by Purple of course.
My first impressions of the game were rather positive, with the basis of the game appearing simple, alongside the engaging music in the background. It was far more unusual to the games that I am used to! Super Mario Bros is a platform based game that involves multiple levels in multiple worlds. At the end of several levels you come across a boss that you will need to conquer.
Within this video, I was able to make my way through to level five I made it to the end on my last of three lives but I unfortunately died along the journey whilst trying to reach level six. This Is the furthest that I was able to make my way to, which is I was rather pleased with… especially for someone who doesn’t usually play platform games like this.
Another part that I really enjoyed about playing through ‘Super Mario Bros 3’ was the constant engagement. I was constantly wanting to play on and continue whenever I died because I wanted to achieve a better score and wanted to make my way further than I had gone previously.
Aswell as this, i liked the addition of new powers that were added since the original super mario. I enjoyed having more variety of power ups to use for a variety of different situations.
After gaining an idea of the game, I was able to conduct some research into the marketing material that was utilised to advertise the game in 1985. This then enabled me to Recreate the marketing materials and make them look better, using more modern editing programmes like Photoshop.

I hope you all enjoyed todays video, I have really enjoyed editing and recording it. Feel free to comment down below any retro games that you would like to see me recreate marketing materials for. Thank you very much for watching!!
