For this weeks game review, I reviewed a game called Slay The Spire. This is a 3rd person action game.

When I first loaded this game up, I was given a very detailed introduction and tutorial which taught me what each card does, how to play and how to find things. This was very good because it meant that I knew exactly how to play the game before I had even played. He tutorial walked me through my 1st fight to teach me how it is done and help me win. I managed to win and be successful. During the tutorial, the game went very slowly whilst I wasn’t doing anything. This was very good because it meant that I could take my time to play if I needed to.

Whilst playing, I realised that I could choose my path. When you start a section, there are many fights and paths that you can take. Each path has different amounts of challenges with different difficulties. This was very cool because if I wanted to re do a section, it would still be different every time because I wouldn’t be repeating myself. The paths do eventually meet up at the end, but you need to be very good at the game to get even close to there.

After some matches, the player was given some options. This would be options to affect the ret of your run by giving you buffs but it would give you a bad effect as well. This meant that there could be a deal for me to accept or decline that would give me x2 damage but 7 less max health. This was very good because it can mean that different players get different experiences. In addition, it can help you out in certain times. If I only had 1 health left, I could do a deal that gives me more health. It would make the rest of that round harder, but it would stop me from dying right there. This is very good because if I survived, I might be able to get another buff to cancel the previous nerf out.

The graphics on this game were very good and looked amazing. The backgrounds, characters and weapons all looked perfect. This could be turned down in settings if it caused you lag but I didn’t see any lag or glitches from it at all from it.

In this game, there are many different cards. These can be unlocked by the shop or by playing the game and killing enemies. The cards act like players so if I want a warrior, I use my warrior card. Each card costs a certain amount to spawn so during a fight, you have to use some maths and strategy to decide which attack is best. Along with attacking, you need to work out when it is best to defend yourself and gain shield otherwise the enemy will destroy you.

Overall, I would rate this game 5/5 stars.
